Scent Description: Stave churches are among the oldest surviving wooden structures in the world - Romanesque in origin, yet so severe and angular they seem to belong to something far older. Something that precedes naming.

This is the scent of that silence. Rosewood and cedar from centuries of timber. Worn leather and aged paper from the books and hands that passed through. The particular stillness of a place where people have been coming, for a very long time, to think.

Fantøft Stave Church, near Bergen, was built in 1150. Relocated once, tragically burned in 1992 and rebuilt shortly after.
