Generations of Norwegians have been going to their family hytter to slow down: to hike, to breathe cold air, to come back inside and let the fire do the rest. Wood smoke from a fire that's been going all day, frankincense and myrrh like something sacred and old, amber in the walls from decades of warmth. That's what a hytte smells like. That's this candle.

How to best care for your candle

• Trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before each burn.
• Keep the candle away from drafts, flammable materials, and children or pets.
• Never leave a burning candle unattended and never burn it for more than 4 hours at a time.
• Always place candles on a heat-resistant surface.
• Extinguish the candle completely before leaving the room.
• Stop burning when there's about 1/2 inch of wax left.
